Delivery and privacy

How photo sharing works
CollectOurPhotos has no servers and no photo storage. The QR code opens the album link you pasted — Google Photos, Google Drive, Dropbox, iCloud or any other https link. Guests upload directly to that service. Your account settings control who can view and add photos.

    How CollectOurPhotos works

    Create the event, paste your album link, generate the QR code and print the table signs. That is all it does — simple and private.

    The guest experience

    1. A guest points their phone camera at your printed sign.
    2. The QR opens your album link — the exact URL you pasted in Event settings.
    3. They add photos following your provider's own upload flow.

    Sign-in honesty: Google Drive and Google Photos ask guests to sign in to a Google account before uploading. Dropbox file requests accept uploads from anyone — no account needed — which is why we recommend them for the smoothest guest experience. iCloud shared album links are view-only unless you invite each contributor from an Apple device.

    Print quality tips

    1. Print at 100% scale with background graphics enabled.
    2. Use 250–300 gsm cardstock; matt or satin scans better than high gloss.
    3. Aim for 300 dpi output — the built-in sizes are already set up for this.
    4. Keep the white quiet zone around the QR untouched when trimming.
    5. Test-scan a printed sign from about a metre away before the event.

    Use it like an app — even offline

    Save it to your phone: on iPhone or iPad, open this address in Safari, tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen. On Android, open it in Chrome, tap the menu (three dots), then Add to Home screen (some phones say Install app). It then opens full screen with its own icon, just like an app from the app store.

    Offline: after your first online visit, the app works without internet — useful at venues with poor reception. The QR generator needs one online visit before QR codes appear; after that they work offline too.

    Backup and transfer

    Your event details live only in this browser. Use Export project (top right) to save a JSON backup, and Import project on another device to continue there. Clearing your browser data clears the app, so export before big cleanups.

    Remember: the backup contains your event details and album link — not photos. Photos are safe in your cloud account regardless.

    Guests can view but can't upload?

    That's a sharing-permission setting in your cloud account, not the app. Quick fixes: Google Drive — Share → Anyone with the link → change Viewer to Editor. Google Photos — turn on Link sharing and Collaborate. Dropbox — use a File request (uploads always work, no account needed). iCloud public links are view-only by design.

    Permission changes apply to already-printed signs automatically — the QR only carries the address; permissions live in your cloud account. Step-by-step detail is on the Support page.

    Test it like a guest — and when to reprint

    Before the big event, hand a printed sign to someone who doesn't own the album — have them scan it on their own phone and actually upload a test photo, not just view. Your own scan always works because you own the album; theirs is the real test.

    Reprint signs whenever the link itself changes — deleting and re-creating the folder, generating a fresh share link, or making a new file request all create a new address that old ink can't follow. Changing permissions on the same link never needs a reprint.
